Submissions have just closed for CINE's 3rd annual Marvin Hamlisch Film Scoring Contest for Emerging Composers. Contestants were provided an award-winning short film with no audio and given free reign to craft a musical score. Mathew composed his score in January, added the finishing touches in February, and submitted his final score before the February 27th deadline. Finalists will be announced in May, and the winner will be announced in June. Final judges this year include Oscar-winning composer Mychael Danna (
Life of Pi), Emmy-nominated composer George S. Clinton, and Emmy-winning music editor Daniel Carlin. Last year's competition saw nearly 400 composers from 33 countries participate, and this year is looking to top that! We wish all participants the best of luck, and for more information about the competition, head on over to the official contest website.
