Our Story

KEKO - Founded in January 2014, KeKo (short for Kerwin-Kong) is a cinematic music production team consisting of husband-and-wife duo Mathew Kong and Teresa Kerwin-Kong. Within their first year running, KeKo initially attracted attention with their unique "high noon" cover of "The Rains of Castamere" as part of their first EP, The West Remembers: Game of Thrones in the Wild West. KeKo then went on to produce more covers as well as original compositions, providing tracks for indie games and releasing their first full original studio album, Orchestrana: Cinematic Odysseys, in October 2014. Already gaining notice through their distinctive style of narrative music, KeKo's songs play out like self-contained stories, with emphasis on catchy melodies, strongly established moods, and emotional progression. Their portfolio also showcases amazing versatility, from their distinctive style of organic synthwave to their whimsical and soaring symphonic pieces. Dueling Destinies, a tribute to the popular BioWare RPG "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" continues to be a popular listen since its release in August 2015. Mathew and Teresa recently completed the score for Tom Vs The Armies of Hell, a quirky action game released on Steam in July 2016 and are set to score Star: Wars: An Idiot's Array, an action-thriller fan film set in the Star Wars universe. Stay tuned for more exciting developments!

MATHEW KONG (composer) - Mathew grew up in the culturally rich San Francisco Bay Area. His interest in film music began at a young age, where he would sit in front of the family TV with his first keyboard and play along to Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and The Lion King. Upon receiving his first Super NES, he quickly fell in love with video game music as well, with the Donkey Kong Country series and Super Mario RPG becoming instant favorites.

A self-taught composer, Mathew honed his skills through years of intensive study and practice, receiving feedback on his compositions from veterans in the film music industry, and writing, writing, writing. Mathew is constantly excited at the prospect of creating new cinematic musicscapes, and strives to make every composition better than the last.

TERESA KERWIN-KONG (music director, vocalist) - Teresa grew up in a quaint, quiet East Texas town and was involved in musical theater from a young age. In high school, she sang as a mezzo-soprano for the school choir and received a music scholarship upon entering college.

Teresa combines her knowledge of musical theater with a keen ear for detail in order to provide clear direction on mood, instrumentation, and technique. She is also the featured vocalist for KeKo, lending beauty, character, and versatility to original hits such as Blackened Sky and covers such as Do You Want To Run A Dungeon?, a quirky homage to both Disney's Frozen and Massively-Multiplayer Online Gaming culture, which she also wrote the lyrics to.
